Ava Gioe is our 4 year old baby, who collapsed on Nov. 7th after suffering a massive stroke. She slipped into a coma, was entubated and air-lifted to The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia. There she was diagnosed with Diffuse Pontine Glioma, a type of brain stem cancer affecting children between 2 and 6 year of age. She underwent 33 radiation treatments, a port placement and a shunt placement with almost 3 months of hospitalization.
Ava is now out of the coma, and she is rehabilitating. She has learned how to eat again, she had to learn to hold her torso and neck and has slowly been regaining movement of the right side of her body. We believe she will walk soon!
On Christmas she started talking. It was the best gift! We want to give Ava the happiest memories, help with her needs and be able to spend time with her.
More than anything, we ask that you please keep Ava in your prayers, and if you can, please help us cover some of the medical and travel expenses involved with Ava's rehabilitation. We are praying for a Miracle and have faith that anything is possible. We thank you for all the support, and we will never lose Faith and Hope! LONG LIVE AVA!
