Bishop Eric D. Garnes received Christ at the young age of eleven years old.  Growing up in a Christian home he learned how to worship and praise God from a young and tender beginning.  He is the living epitome of the scripture, “Train up the child in the way he should grow so when he is old he will not depart.”  Proverbs 22:6

 

Bishop Garnes has achieved a number of goals as a young man.  He is a graduate of the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Services where he completed his studies and became a Licensed Funeral Director in the State of New York and also became a Certified Bereavement Counselor. Bishop Garnes works with his family as the Corporate Secretary/Treasurer of the Frank R. Bell Funeral Home, Inc.  He received the Thomas M. Quinn Outstanding Achievement Award at his graduation with high honors and recognition from the students and faculty.  Bishop Garnes is also the recipient of the James Madison Scholastic Award for Professionalism and Communication Enrichment, City of New York Community Developers Award and many more.  He completed his undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Arts (Letters) at the College of New Rochelle, New York Theological Seminary Division.  Bishop Garnes completed two graduate studies programs with a Masters of Divinity Degree from the International Theological Seminary, and a second discipline with a Masters in Professional Studies degree with a concentration in Urban Theology & Leadership from Alliance Theological Seminary.  Bishop Garnes earned his Doctorate of Ministry degree from Drew University and completed his academic requirements as a “Hilliard Fellow” designed to develop special academicians and scholars in church renewal. Presently, Bishop Garnes is an Adjunct Professor at Alliance Theological Seminary in the Graduate School of Nyack College.

 

The succession and growth of this man of God is listed in great magnitude as the former and first President of the Pentecostal Youth Congress, Adjutant-General, Chairman of Holy Convocation Affairs and has walked up the steps holding various positions in Episcopacy.  Bishop Garnes is the Presiding Bishop and Primate of the United Covenant Churches of ChristUCCC is a historic Pentecostal experience organization that preaches the whole gospel and believes in the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life.

 

Bishop Garnes sits as an official member of the Community Board 17 delegates, and is a board member of T.D. Jakes PHIPA (Pastoral Alliance) and Myler Church Building Systems, Inc. He also sits as Deputy Chariman on the Advisory Board for the Joint College of African-American Bishops with his father-in-the gospel, Bishop J. Delano Ellis, II. Bishop Garnes is a Police/Clergy Liaison for the 67th Precinct of the New York City Police Department. He also sits on the governing counsel as an honorary for the Covenant Ecumenical Fellowship & Cathedral Assemblies, Inc. and the Christian Ecumenical Covenant Fellowship, Inc., serving both associations as an Episcopal Consultant.  Bishop Garnes is the Secretary of the Executive Board with their family business at the Frank R. Bell Funeral Home, Inc. where they inter more than 600 plus persons annually.

 

Bishop Eric D. Garnes is a modern day Visionary.  He has a clear and distinctive view of where he is leading the Body of Christ. He is presently the Senior Pastor of Tabernacle of Praise (Cathedral), located in Brooklyn, New York. A Holy Ghost explosion church where the Spirit of God fills the temple and is currently growing by leaps and bounds. His goal and aspiration is to change the face of Utica Avenue.  Transforming it into an earthly empyrean. Bishop Garnes is married to a virtuous woman in the Lord, Lady Delicia Garnes, Ph.D., who assists him diligently in the uplifting of the ministry as the Church Administrator and is a Dean at Long Island University. Bishop is the proud father of two children; a son Darian Daniel Rene Garnes and a daughter, Bryanna A'Delicia Garnes.
